SALT OF THE EARTH

VOCABULARY 101 ~ SOL is the root wood for SOLAR and SALT. There's a connection between the sun and salt, since both are essential, to our life and bodies. When Jesus said, in Mathew 5:13, ..."You are the salt of the earth," he was referring to the 'bedrock' type of character found in a person that is a foundation for loyalty, and dependability.  The Latin word, salary shares a connection to the root word sol, explaining the saying, ..."worth his salt," when roman soldiers, received salt as part of their pay, bringing power and energy to their bodies and minds.

BIOLOGY ~ SALT is a basic ingredient in the blood and our bodily fluids, just as it is in our Seas!  SALT is a basic survival food,  bringing vitality to the body, along with aiding in mental clarity. Our abuse and misuse of the wrong amounts and types of salt, has encouraged a "salt aversion", in Western Medicine, as a contributing factor in Heart Disease. This has led to much confusion about a basic food, which we literally can't live without! Salt intake is dependent upon many factors, and must be individualized! Dr. Linus Pauling, PhD and winner of 2 Nobel prizes said, "You can trace every sickness, dis-ease, and every ailment to a mineral  deficiency". 

LET'S REVIEW SUMMER'S FIRST CLASS ~ SALT is a very Yin energy, and can leave one craving sugar (which is Yang), such as dessert, or ice cream after an unbalanced salty meal.  Like wise, excessive sugar will leach valuable sodium from the body and give rise to salt cravings.  The only kind of table salt that should be considered are the unrefined Sea Salts, which are richer in the valuable trace elements and minerals. Land boxed Salt,  as found on American tables are devoid of most nutrients. Even Sea Salt, needs to be processed properly, many of which have been cured in the sun are better choices than those that have been processed, washed, or kiln dried. Many cultures prefer cooking with food and/or condiments instead of the 'salt shaker'.  Condiments such as tamari, miso paste, miso broth, amino acids, umeboshi salt plums and pickles.  Seaweed vegetables, such as Nori are tasty sources of  iodine.
Let us remember, that is was this humble, yet essential element that inspired Mahatma Gandhi to lead the Salt March!

So how do we protect our sanity our well-being back into a Homeostasis status? The Concerted Global Gas Lighting (all pronouns welcome here;) has led to bloody-tongue -word-twisting and biting cruelty. The “nothing to see here“ narrative of the mind bending unrelenting psychological warfare that was deployed upon all of humanity must be addressed. 

We need to Reveal Wounds psychological or physical in order to Heal! We must find ways to offset the “don’t believe you’re lying eyes” narrative. We simply cannot unsee the past three years, and the toll it has taken. 

Anyone that knows of my dedicated service to the healing arts of 44 years, knows that I will always offer solutions to consider when posing problems. One Rising concern I’ve seen is regarding blood pressure. Maintaining Homeostasis is not possible when blood pressure is either too high or low. 

There’s no doubt Humanities stress levels have been rampant and prolonged. It’s no wonder I’ve seen arise in clients experiencing: racing or fast heartbeat, Hypertension, high blood pressure not to mention strokes and heart attacks! The symptoms may include but are not limited to abnormal heartbeat, anxiety, lightheadedness, pain or tightness in the chest, neck back or arms. 

Gaia’s apothecary is proof positive mankind was given all that we need in the Garden of Eaten! It is what ‘The Power of Weee’ refers to as the “original medicine“ ie. food as medicine. Food Is Not What some would have us believe as the “alternative.” Food is, was and always will be the original medicine intended for mankind’s well-being. As a Herbalist I would be remiss not to share one of my favorite old school, “go to’s” in my cupboard!

That being said, Now back to the garden! Capsicum the active constituent found within a whole family of peppers may do more than spice up your life. Many of my next statements “may” have actually been “proven.” But suffice it to say I will be inserting the word “May.“ 

Spicy food including many varieties of peppers contain Capsicum the active constituent that may aid in lowering blood pressure by controlling blood flow. By improving the circulatory system your heart, arteries, capillaries and nerves may be strengthened as well. Cayenne or capsicum may act to Tonify; that is to support or nourish many bodily functions. 

For many decades I begin most mornings with a warm tonic on an empty stomach drank through a straw. I have many tonic additions depending on the season but they all include: lemon or apple cider vinegar always with a dash of cayenne pepper to start my metabolism and aid in the possibility of clearing mucus out of my body! 

And since were sticking to the basics of “The Great Reset 101” of doing No Harm let’s get back to the basics! In my writing and teaching I will always try to default To the old adage that you have exactly what you need within your reach! 

One of the known and often forgotten tools within your reach is your breath. Be it anxiety, hypertension, Racing Hearts no matter what your expression is of your in-balance; the fastest way to check in with yourself before you wreck yourself is to focus on your breath.

Just 🧘‍♂️  Breathe 🧘  please 🧘‍♀️ 

It’s not just for yoga girls;) 

There are as many disciplines of breath control and awareness as there are snowflakes;) Become an advocate of your role in self-care and take responsibility for re-educating yourself on this first action of your life! With focus on deeper, slower, more measured breaths; we can breathe new life, renewed Spiritus (ie Holy Spirit) into every fiber of  your being. 

Why even our very overloaded brains register this measured breath as a state of relaxation. Have you ever heard the term rest and digest? This does not just apply to the foods that we digest but it also applies to our ability to digest our lives. In my writings and teachings I am of the mindset that one size does not fit all and that you must find the system that suits your needs. 

So let’s start at the very beginning with what is called baby’s Buddha Belly’s first breath. You can’t get more basic in my ‘Great Reset 101’  than with the tool that you have right under your nose!  Known to “may” help with many of the aforementioned maladies. I will leave you with a simple formula that I’ve used with children. “Simon Says” ...

Breathe in through the nose •  for a count of 4 expanding and welcoming softness ~ focus on the Life Giving property of oxygen •

• Now hold at the top of the breath count of 4 ~allowing the breath to expand throughout your body infusing your cells with life’s element • 

•  Through perched lips exhale for same count of 4 ~ to expel byproducts and release unwanted emotions ~ that no longer serves you ~ imagine exhale as important as inhale to dispel • 

•Now hold at bottom of breath same 4 count (for now) ~ allowing the body the empty space in order to

🌬 “Inhale the future, exhale the past." 🌬

Now, Rinse and Repeat. This quiet space, will do more than you may know to realign with your true nature. This mindful pause helps to remove the automatic responses in life. To develop an Eagle’s eye bringing forth a new perspective.  A round of 4 done several times throughout your day can give you a new lease on life! Quiet moments such as time on your ‘Throne’ or driving or even standing in line makes good use of your time. 

All of nature stays true to nature, naturally; as it realizes its full zenith potential in the stillness of just being. Our true nature reveals itself in the still point of meditation. But first you must show up to train the mind gently and consistently to rest in silence. For it is in the quietude of regular meditation, the ability to connect to the source of consciousness itself is revealed. It is in this silence that the very nature of Self can reveal itself!

Oh yeah and just smile please, surely you’ve heard that a simple smile has the ability to release a plethora of feel good hormones                           but more on that in another read!

The daily apple eaters in the study  were more likely to successfully avoid prescription medication than the people who did not eat apples.”

SALT doesn't ENTER CELLS ALONE! OILS + SALTS are held in CELLS, only when combined in proper ratio! Unlike the Western school of thought, who shuns both of these essential nutrients of oil + salt, let us adopt the Oriental beautifully balanced approach, preferring 2 use in the Art of Cooking, with such condiments as found in Liquid Amino Acids, Tamari or Soy Sauce, Miso, pickles or Umo Salt Plums, 2 name a few...

SPRINKLE JOY

FIVE ELEMENT CLASSIFICATION 101 ~Season of SUMMER'S Expression is:~ HEART ~ GROWTH~TONGUE~BITTER TASTE~HEAT~SPEECH~LAUGHTER + JOY!!  Please Let us Take The Time Outs To Cultivate JOY!!

HEAT is harmful to the HEART. Be careful when going from a very cold environment into the heat. Remember the sound of Haww may be useful in releasing excessive heart heat, while Ha Ha Ha is the Heart's sound.   Harsh words and suspicions, lay a foundation that can not be taken back, are also harmful to the heart.   "In what you say of or to another, apply the test of kindness, necessity and truth, and let nothing pass your lips without a 2/3 majority.
